They are typically unit boosts or special commands like air strikes. During gameplay, as you capture and defend strategic points, ability points will be useable based upon the generals you have selected. Generals are a new concept, and you may choose up to three of them in your army customizer. These accolades will translate into tangible rewards for you to take advantage of. As you progress in the game, you will earn new ranks, ribbons, and awards. New to the series is the army customizer, which is also a huge unlock system in and of itself. This is your level, and it increases as you complete virtually any match. Aside from the campaign and the Theatre of War, you may notice a large banner in the upper right corner of your screen. Has anyone set up a progression of single-player skirmish maps that depict some overarching campaign? Are there any other ways to have a sort of ad hoc campaign experience while using mods?Īny other thoughts on the single-player and/or realism experience are welcome too.Company of Heroes 2 is a game that focuses on progress. Ardennes Assault is interesting, but AFAIK you can't enable mods while playing it. Second, I'm going to be playing this single-player - what in your opinions offers the best SP experience vs the AI? The Soviet campaign is kind of bad. So first question, what are the best "realism" mods available that favor slower & more strategic/deliberate gameplay? I've just gotten the Wikinger mod but am not sure what other ones are worth checking out. Good game, but more a typical RTS in most ways.īut I do see a more realistic strategy game lurking under the hood, with the right modding it could really work. I got CoH2 hoping for a more tactical & historical squad-based game along the lines of the old Close Combat series - obviously COH2 isn't quite that.
